The hagiographer, painter and sculptor Constantinos Valaes wished to express his love for nature and used the olive tree, not just as an icon, but also as a symbol of spirit, moral ideals and ancient Greek history, when he first started creating his trademark Olive Tree sculptures a few years ago.
Constantinos Valaes began his studies in fine arts at an early age. He was taught painting and hagiography by Nicholas Kalamvokis (hagiographer) and Elena Binioti (professor at the School of Fine Arts). The technique that he presumed the most was silversmithing and metalsculpturing for which he owns a state degree. Using his primary materials, copper and bronze, he managed over time to develop his inspiring ideas by giving to his sculptures shape, character and distinct quality. His masterpieces evolved and became well known. Supported by his family, at 2009 he established the "VALAES" company in collaboration with his two sons, Panagiotis and Aggelos. He is also a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts. So far, his artworks has been exhibited at the Czech Embassy of Athens, the Zappeion Megaron, the Center of History of Salonica, the Technopolis in Gazi, the Grand Resort Lagonissi, the Grande Bretagne Hotel and also in many galleries in Greece, Cyprus and abroad. His sculptures have also been given as honorary awards to important people in the scope of the Arts, Politics and Sports. Some of Valaes artworks are permanently exhibited at Astir Palace Resort, the Town Hall in Palaio Faliro, the Town Hall in Tripolis etc. and in private collections around the world. He has been honored with the gold medal of the "UNESCO Arts, Sciences and Literature of Greece" for his contribution to art, in which he was Vice President and Head of Public Relations for two years. In order to strengthen and expand the Greek spirit and culture across the world, the "VALAES" company continues to be inspired by the Greek landscape through the nature and olive trees and try to establish their presence in important art shows and cultural activities in Greece and abroad.
