For the first time in Greece, we proudly presented two of the most important artists in the world of contemporary art.

Aiiroh and Frédéric Avella, joined forces for ten days at the “AIIROH X AVELLA” exhibition, curated by Niki Kapopoulou in collaboration with her brother Gregory Kapopoulos. A unique coexistence took place at The Art Dose gallery, of two French artists with common aesthetics, who draw their inspiration from pop art movements and the international street art and graffiti scene.

Fred Avella

Aiiroh started out as a graffiti artist and in the early 20s he was introduced to stencils. He had a career in graphic design, working in France and Switzerland. He is inspired by Pop Art and likes to use logos and brands in his artworks to remind people of their dependence on consumerism. For him the graphic power of these brands has a strong effect on our collective unconscious and aesthetic codes. He uses different contemporary techniques such as acrylics, stencils, gel or Swarovski crystals.

Frédéric Avella was born into a family of stonemasons of four generations. His father taught him to polish, cut and carve stone and marble. At the age of 21, the town of Sanary on the Côte d’Azur chose him as supervisor of the renovation of several fountains and public statues. His work is influenced by pop culture, cartoons and comics. He created “Freud”, his 1st series of sculptures, by which he expressed his intention to demystify animals by assigning them exaggerated proportions, subverting how their image is typically represented in popular culture.

The exhibition met the aim set by The Art Dose, to offer innovative art proposals to the Greek public and put Greece on the world map of contemporary art action.
